New news from South Fremont!!!!

Ok, I finally got the go ahead to tell everyone some really exciting news!!! Beginning in March, we are going to add a service to what we do on the weekends. It will be on Saturday nights, and it will be more of a family, interactive kind of service. We are very excited about this opportunity to offer an alternative to the more traditional service of Sunday mornings. It is going to open the door for us to minister to a whole new and different kind of person! We already have some prospects and that's even more exciting to us. To know that God is already putting people in our way that could benefit from this worship time! Be in prayer for us as we prepare for this service as it approaches. We also have some other wonderful services coming up. We are going to have a celebration service at the first of March. We have invited past pastors and friends to celebrate the past and the future of the ministry of South Fremont. We are going to have a note burning, and even more exciting, we are going to have a baptism service that morning! Just pray that God continues to grow us as a family, and pray that God opens doors for us to reach out and minister to the lost!

Army week at Troop 4:20

Tonight at Troop 4:20 was Army night so we were talking about the Armor of God. This week was the Helmet of Salvation! Be sure and notice the nice "filters" that they are wearing! We need to make sure that we teach our kids (and us) to control our mind! Once Satan gets in there, he can really control us!

I almost forgot.....this is Deante'. He played our David tonight as we talked about how he trusted God for his protection instead of listening to everyone else's advice on how to defeat the giant, Goliath. This is him dressed in "Saul's armor"! He could barely stand up!

SMILE!

I've been thinking a lot lately about the way I perceive people. I've been trying really hard to look at people as individuals that need love, just the way Christ looks at us. With real needs, real hurts.....Like take for instance Wal-Mart. We all know what kind of feelings stepping into Wal-Mart brings for most of us! Well, I've started smiling at people. And if they will make eye contact with me, maybe a Hi! It's kinda weird the way they react. Some smile back, others pretend like they don't see you. But the other day, I had smiled at this lady, she smiled back (then I felt like I had this connection with her), and then I ran into her in the produce, so I helped her get one of those produce bags. She said thank you, I went on. Later, when we were checking out, she made it a point to stop me and say thank you again. Very sweet. That leads me to think about the way that I have thought about people growing up. I didn't take a lot of (individual) time for people I didn't know. If it didn't directly concern me, then, I just went on. Not trying to be rude, just minding my own business! Also, I think that I have allowed this disinterest in people, to develop an attitude about them. Judging them, if you will. Like if I saw them directly after church time, and they weren't in a dress or dressed up, they must be lost. Or if I heard someone saying a word I didn't approve of, it must mean their relationship with the Lord wasn't right. Then when we were living in Nashville, we had went to the early service and were out by 10:30am......roaming Nashville for a place to eat, during the time that "normal" people went to church!! Gasp! I said all that to say this, I don't want to put God in a box. Christians come in all shapes and sizes. And I am looking forward to getting to know people before I make assumptions about them. And by the way, try smiling at people you don't know, you may make a friend!

Service with a Smile!

This week in Troop 4:20 was a special week for us! Not only was it Mobile week, which the kids love, but we were going to our church to serve our people! We chose February for the month to show our love and appreciation to the adults in the church for their prayer and support of the youth department. So, we cooked dinner, and the kids served the adults. They also helped clean up. It was work, but fun. And the kids always have fun, no matter what they're doing!

An Evening of Music

We are so proud of Tyler for many different things. There's the sports, the good grades, the example he is for other kids, and now we have another thing.....playing the trombone! He had his first band concert on Tuesday. He was very excited about us coming and getting to hear everything that they had been learning. We get to hear him practice (practically) everyday, but it was neat to hear how his part fit in to the whole thing! It lasted about an hour and they did good! I can't wait to see what other new music they get to play! Way to go, Tyler!

And the pic of his feet is to show how much he's grown recently, and to prove a point to him. He was suppose to wear dress pants.....I told them they were too short, but he didn't believe me!

Souper Bowl 2009

I don't know who you were rooting for in the Super Bowl, but I think it turned out to be a decent game! And, at our party, if you weren't really interested in the game, there was always all the soups and fellowship!

This makes the 2nd year for our Soup-er Bowl party at our church. We've tried to find the biggest way possible to show the game. Get some other games and stuff for the kids. And fill everybody up on wonderful homeade soups. We had a great time! Everybody cheered for their favorites, and some even stayed til the very end! It would have been better if the Eagles would have made it, but there's always next year!

You Got it, Baby!

I'm always making fun of people who have blogs and never post.....so here i am, over a week later! Anyway!

Since I've last posted, I've went back to work! Well, kinda. Work has come to me! I've started watching a baby in my home. She is almost 2 months old, and really sweet. She loves it when Travis talks to her. The kids really enjoy getting to spend time with her before and after school. Tyler has even volunteered to feed her! We take her everywhere with us, so it doesn't keep me from doing the other things I need to get done!

I'm looking forward to getting to know her parents, too. They seem to be a really sweet couple.

I am forgetting what it was all like, having a baby. I was later than usual to Bible study the other day because I had to get her ready too! And going out, I have that HUGE diaper bag! Oh, well. I am very thankful for this job (it seems weird calling it a job), but I totally feel like God put it in my lap! And I am so glad He did.
