Trunk or Treat 2008

This Halloween our church sponsored a Trunk or Treat! We had a great time and really enjoyed all of the children and their families who came by! In an event like this it's really hard to figure out how many people were there, but we know we gave away all of our hotdogs and there was a constant flow of people in and out! Thanks to everyone who helped to make this possible! I can't stop without telling that we also had a contest for the best decorated vehicle. The guests voted, and my van won! I made it up to be a "Hippie Van" complete with flowers and beaded lamps! It was a really fun time!

Ozark Judgement House

Wednesday night (the 29th) was a "Surgical" night for our Troop 4:20 group. I thought it would be fun and fitting to take them to Ozark to the Judgement House! We took 6 middle schoolers there and had a good time! It was the general opinion that the "hell room" freaked us all out! Next week, Headquarters week!

Wilder presents...ELECTION 2008!

Abby had a school program on October 28th. They all did such a great job! The program was all about the elections coming up. It was very impressive all the information that they knew!!! There was one point that I felt they may be more informed about all the candidates than I did!!! The music was great and very enjoyable! We even made the evening news! Good job, Abby!

Happy Birthday, MOM!

My mom had a birthday on October 21st! We all got together to have cake and ice cream and show her a little love! This birthday was hard for her, so I hope just being around family made it a little easier. My mom is a special lady and I am looking forward to many more birthdays with her. Continue to pray for her as she adjusts to life without my dad.

A Day with Bruce Wilkinson

I have been putting off posting about this day because it just seems to somehow lessen what happened by trying to put it into words. I do want to tell everyone what a wonderful and at the same time painful time we had that day. It began at 9am, and wasn't over until 9 that night. A small group, about 80 of us all together, with Bruce Wilkinson, author of "The Prayer of Jabez" all to ourselves!! I think I expected to sit back and get all those warm and fuzzies, and there were those times, but then there was the painful stuff, too. We spent a lot of time tuning into the Holy Spirit, and then following His lead to talk about things that were important to the ministry in Springfield. It was all good and dandy until it gets personal! But, I am so thankful for the openness that we felt that day and the sense of unity that was there between all these strangers! Travis and I both learned a lot about ourselves that day, and I am sure that God will use that experience to help us be more effective in our ministry and our personal walk with Him.

Our new Girl Scout!

So, Abby has just recently decided that she would like to try Girl Scouts. She is very excited about this, and I am willing to support her in her new adventure! They have been doing some very neat things, and these are just a few pics from a recent meeting. They are going to a museum tomorrow. I am sure there will be many wonderful things for her to experience with this new group of friends!

Wow! I just looked at the date of my last post and gasped, sorry!! Things have been a little crazy lately, and I'm sitting here at the computer with every intention of blogging....we will see. I promise to try and catch up, soon!
